Flavoured Noodles/Pasta

Flavored instant noodles and pasta are convenient and quick meal options enjoyed globally. Typically made from refined wheat flour (maida) or whole wheat, they come packaged with flavoring packets that often contain various additives. When choosing these products, it's essential to consider their nutritional content and ingredient quality to make healthier choices.

1. Primary ingredient: Opt for noodles or pasta made from whole wheat as it provides more fiber and nutrients compared to those made from refined wheat flour (maida). Whole grains support better digestion and sustained energy levels.

2. Additives: Avoid the ones which have MSG (monosodium glutamate) as a flavouring agent. Sodium benzoate, BHA, and BHT are common preservatives that can be found in instant noodle packets. Prefer options with minimal or no preservatives.

3. Sodium: Instant noodles and pasta can be high in sodium, which is linked to increased blood pressure and heart health issues. Choose products with reduced sodium content or use only part of the seasoning packet to control sodium intake.

4. Fortified Options: Some instant noodles or pasta are fortified with additional vitamins and minerals, such as iron, B vitamins, and sometimes even protein. These can offer a nutritional boost.

When selecting flavored instant noodles or pasta, prioritize products made with whole wheat and those that are free from MSG, artificial additives, and trans fats. Opt for reduced-sodium versions and consider fortified options to enhance their nutritional profile.
